Ok I don't know the technical name for it, but the little round thing that appears when the mac is listening, doesn't appear anymore. This seems to have stop the mac listening to me (something most people learn to do anyway..)

How do I get it all back?

I'm sure you have already checked this, but just to make sure...

'Apple Speakable Items' is checked On in System Preferences under Speech, correct?

Yup, one of the first things I checked to avoid any hand-slap-on-forehead 'DOH' moments !
