Riddle me this.....

I am using mail.app to connect to a Microsoft Exchange mail server via imap. When I drag and drop a mailbox to my desktop I get a .imapmbox file - which I am unable to re-import into mail.app. If I use Entourage, I can drag a mailbox to the desktop and I get a .mbox file which I can import.

Our e-mail server is getting full and we need to do some archiving.

Somebody help me - I don't want to convert to Entourage just so I can archive....

so the import option didn't work. Did you try and place the .mbox file directly into the Mail folder itself its located in Home Folder> Library> Mail> Mailboxes....when your done restart the application and see if it recognizes it.

Drag the folder from "online" to "on my mac" -- mail stores the latter locally. No need to drag to the desktop -- not exactly sure why you'd want to do this? Just copy folders from the server to your local machine and they'll be treated as local (POP'd) mail. Then when you want to backup you just archive ~/Library/Mail and everything is in there.

CatOne you are the ****!! Where do I send your case of beer to?

The reason I was dragging and dropping was because that was what I had read in other forums (google).

Thanks a million!

Send a case of Lagunitas IPA to CA. I'll go on a real bender, hehe.

Glad to help.
