Can someone please point me to a good primer about personal file sharing? I am a complete novice when it comes to that subject so the primer has to be a fairly simple one that will talk me through step by step.

ON THE SERVER:

1. Open System Preferences.

2. Go to the "Sharing" pane.

3. Make sure "Personal File Sharing" is checked (in the "Services" tab).

ON THE CLIENT(S):

1. Choose "Connect to Server..." from the Finder's "Go" menu (or type CMD-K while in the Finder).

2. Enter afp://<host> and click "Connect", where <host> should be replaced with the server's host name or IP address.
OR
Double click on the host if it appears in the list (should appear if in the same subnet).

3. Enter username and password for the server.

4. Select which share to connect to from the list displayed.

That's about it (assuming it all works). The mounted share should appear on your desktop (depending on Finder preferences). It will also appear in the Finder's "Computer" window.

Brass, I connected just fine to my brother's computer. My brother, on the other hand, keeps getting the message: "error = 36". Do you know what error 36 means?
