I am using my moms iMac to connect to my home computer, and when I am connect it says (greyed out) my mom owns all my files, I can't use the lock to change.

so I went into her user, and tried logging into my computer and it said I still don't have permission to download the files (AKA my e-mail files).

I then try as root same thing.

What's up? when I get home the owner is correcxt (me).

A friend logged in as me from his Mac and it shows hes the owner, and works fine.

We are both running 10.2.6

You have the permissions of the username and password you use to log into the AFP server. So if you log into your box with your username, then you are using your permissions. In the "Get Info" box, the permissions are not accurate.

I'm guessing the permissions are like that so the local user (your mom's user) can access the files using the remote username (your username), and it has to trick the local computer that the files on the remote computer belong to it.

So there isn't anything wrong with it showing up as the local user in the Get Info box. I don't know why you can't access your files, unless you aren't using your username to log in.
