I have three files that I can't get rid of. two are mp3s, one is a .sit file but with the Internet Explorer icon.

these three files don't want to be copied, moved or thrown away.

they sit on my desktop.

what can I do? I would like to keep the mp3s and put them in a particular folder, but they won't go. I can do it in OS 9, but back in Jag I will still have the permission problems.

here's some screenshots:

What happens if you make a copy of each file in OS 9, trash the originals and then try and move the files once back in Jaguar?

hmm..

two days ago I copied one of the mp3 files to my portable firewire drive in OS 9. no problem. went to a friend's house, took it off the firewire drive and put the file on a friend's G4 running OSX.. same permission problems once they were on her machine. couldn't move them, delete them, nothing.

that's basically (i think) the same as what you suggest I try, and yea. no dice.

more suggestions?

chmod 777 filename (full access for everyone)

or...

chmod 755 filename (full access for you, read for everyone, etc...)
