I have only one usedr on my mac, and I have the system set to automattically log me in. I just dis an archive-reinstall preserving this user, and now the user does not automatically log in despite the setting in the preferences. WTF?
You need to re-authenticate (probably in the System Preference auto-login pane). Even if you use the same password, there may be some issue with using it. Try re-entering your password and see if that helps.
