My son accidentally deleted the Inbox of the my Mac OS X Mail program. I had many needed e-mails stored there. Please tell me the best way to recover this folder. Is Norton the best or is there a more powerful solution.

Also, has all hope been lost if there was a span of a few days before I noticed and the computer was used frequently?

Hoping and praying for a positive outcome.

Yes, there is some time until a received mail is deleted from the server (you can specify that in the Account preferences).

Everything that is older, you have to restore from your backup.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

The next thing you should do is password protect your account, and give your son a regular (unprivileged) account the way you should have done in the first place so this won't happen again.

And people still say "I don't need the multi-user stupidity of OS X. OS 9 was much easier without all this over-complication".
