Hi,
I was wondering if this is possible:

I'm going away for the summer and am leaving my computer on. I want to run SetiAtHome, but not at full blast, because my tiBook gets ridiculously hot, and I don't want it to be that hot for 5 weeks. Is there any way I can make setiAthome just use a set amount of CPU instead of as much as possible? Renicing the process doesn't really do what I want. Thanks,

gabe

I don't know of one. But your iBook should be ok as it has a fan. You don't need to worry about it.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

You could have a cron job send it STOP and CONT signals at regular intervals. Of course, the thermal cycling thereby produced could be worse...
