How do permissions get so f*cked up on my G4? I run the permission fixer before every SW update and now most SW installs and there are always oodles of repairs needed.
What messes these up? Is it other programs? Is it the OS? What's the big deal?

I never run the permissions repair. Not before a software update and not after...
