Hi,

I'm about to buy a 12" powerbook for my wife. If I buy now, will we get an upgrade to panther?

If not, when will we be able to buy a mac and automatically get the upgrade.

Usually after Apple announces the release date.

Hello,

No free updates for the Jaguar, believe me I have tried. I purchased an iMAC w/a 15" monitor 512 mb w/the superdrive and guess what? Jaguar came out a few months later. Boy was I disappointed.

Wasn't it the case that after Jaguar's release date was announced (Sept 02, announced in May 02), people who bought new Macs could get Jaguar for something like $20? I think so... not sure.

Until the date is announced (this time probably not more than 1 or 2 months before the actual date) you're stuck with paying full price for to upgrade.

OK that sort of makes sense. Must have missed it, but what's the expected release time for Panther. Will it be with the new towers or nearer the end of the year.

The only information was that Jobs said at the WWDC Keynote that "Panther will ship this year."

So it's less than 6 months out
