That one is easy. Just ask the people who gave you the Preview CDs at WWDC. I'm pretty sure they'll be able to help you.

Ask your friend to go ask the person who handed them out at WWDC for you

Come over with your 17" to the Golden Gate room at Moscone. I'm sitting here now with mine and maybe I can help you out.

Of course, if it's pirated, you could shove those CDs right us your ass.

If you require assistance installing/using Panther, then INSTALLING PANTHER IS NOT SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE DOING.

Panther is not a toy, boys and girls. Pre-release software has the capability to do nasty things to your system. I have fifteen bugs filed against Panther and its components already, ranging from minor cosmetic issues to critical (local) security exploits.

I realize that Panther is the cool new thing, but that doesn't mean you should be running it.

The only thing worse than somebody illegally (and yes, you are not licensed to use Panther, so you are using it illegally) using Panther is somebody using Panther illegally, and then complaining when it doesn't work.

Ehy, I think everybody can be tempted to install it even if it's illegal (never wanted to steal candys? Did you actually do?).
Good manners are something much more important in my opinion.
just installing an "only for developers" program doesn't justify the bad expression u used.
Installing Panther beta is just insane curiosity.. not really piracy
it always impress me how acid can became a mac user about "piracy".
relax, he just asked a question, answer if you can answer and nothing else.
(and to don't start a fire, I'm against piracy, I prefear to use freeware from linux)

Scroll to the top, and this time, READ the thread. Your answer has nothing to do with the reasons given.

First stop being so self righeous. He didn't ask any of you that question. If you don't want to help him then go away.

Let's be really clear about this, last year there were the same arguments about if it's pirating. If you have a copy in your hands you legal can instal it because of the contact and the fact that it's not being sold. To make sure that I'm not blowing smoke I contacted our software development attorney today and had him read all of the NDAs.

He verified this for me. What you aren't supposed to do IS disturbute it. That's it.

Leave the poor guy alone.

Did you have him read the Panther EULA?

You should either switch your attorney or stop lying through your teeth. The original poster stated that he got the copy from a friend, who isn't allowed to distribute it, ergo he is in breach of the original contract. This makes it an illegal copy PERIOD.

You know, some of us that actually work our ass off for these things get a little peeved when script kiddies like yourselves get all L33T on us. I'm actually AT the WWDC, I have my own LEGAL copy of Panther in my hands, and too friggin' bad if some of us get a little upset when we work for our dinner and you steal it.
