I have an account for my wife on my portable that she uses quite infrequently (her primary machine is our G4/867). She tried to log into my iBook this morning and it immediately logged her out after the dock and finder appeared. It did this for several attempts. My account works fine. I restarted, same thing. After the restart, it loaded slow enough that I could actually launch System prefs and delete her login items (Mail, iChat, and a file with just her user account name and a generic icon that I have never seen before). Still doesn't work.

Any suggestions? Anything I can delete from the command line to try to get her logged in?

thanks,
kman

probably easier to log in as root, access her home folder, get what you need, move it your desktop, delete her account....then log back in as yourself and set up a new account for her...these kind of things can be maddening to debug, and not really worth the hassle.

You can hold down the shift key while logging on to disable any user login items. That could by pass any odd setting that may have occurred to the account.

You could also move her Library folder. Whatever is causing the problem is in her Library. If you rename it to "Library2" or something, then log in, it will create a new Library with the default settings.

You can do it from your account by the following:

cd /Users/<her-username>/
sudo mv Library Library2

Then log out, and log into her account.
