Dear All,
I am brand new to the OS X world, sorry if the question is stupid. I did posted the same at the Software part, but now the problem is on OS level.
I have a machine with 3 users, I want to limit my kid to be able to start his games only. I did the following - created a user, and set his Capabilities to only use the selected games (games are installed in the Applications/Games/ folder. I changed the permission for this folder to Read/Write for the Others and tried. Then I received a message, Do not have enough permissions to run the software.
What can be the problem? Appreciate of your help.

As admin, if you set the Capabilities for a normal user, you should not need to change permissions on files andf folders. Why did you see the need to do this?

Is it possible that the games installed files at other locations that aren't accessible by that user? Preferences files somewhere maybe?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Here are more details, might help to help me. I have some games, for the kid. all games are in a folder /applications/Games.
I went to the System Preferences/Accounts/ selected the account created for the kid. the Selected the Capabilities and removed all the permissions from all programs, except the games from the /applications/games/.... folder (all of them a properly displayed). The kid is not able to burn cd, remove and items to the dock, etc. Only to start his games. After this, I locked it.
Logged in as the Kid, and tried to start one of the game. I had received a message, that I do not have enough persmissions to do so.
I received an advice to check if the kid is able to write the folder where the individual games are installed, so I did, and set the rights for him.
The owner for the games is me (with admin) rights. Is that okay?
I am not sure, this is enough, I hope.
Thanks one more

I think your problem is with a higher folder. Make sure he has read and execute permissions to all the folders in the entire path to the games. (If you are using the get info window to change them then select read and write, if using Terminal and chmod read and execute will be fine.) By this I mean the Applications folder, the Games folder inside that, any individual folders they are in, and the applications themselves. If anyone of those do not have the correct permissions set, it will give you that error. If I remember correctly the applications folder is set by default to only allow read permissions to users other than the admin.

Thanks, I actually checked the permissions on the Games folder by chmod and they looked okay (having no better idea assigned full control to everyone to that folder), but never checked the permission on the Applications. I will do that tonight, when I am off from the MS world
