I booted up my iBook 900MHz last night which is running MacOS X 10.2.5. I noticed once it was booted up that the cursor (mouse pointer) had an area 48x48 pixels or so of artifacts underneath it. It followed my cursor wherever I moved it.

So I decided to reboot the computer again and pay attention to when this may be occuring in the bootup sequence to see if I can figure out what app may be causing the problem. As soon as the cursor appears in the bootup sequence, it has this area of artifacts underneath it.

Anyone have any ideas for troubleshooting this problem? I figure I can fix it by re-installing MacOS X, but who wants to do that?!?!

Try an alternative cursor and see if the trail stays.
Maybe try this one for a test.
