Hey guys,

I have this weird menu bar item. It's an F in a box. I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of it--without any luck. I *think* it showed up after I ran fetch; however, I'm not 100% sure about that. I've tried killing SystemUIServer, restarting, looking in the menu items folder(including searching for .menu items). Also tried command+dragging it out...no dice. Any ideas what this is from and/or how I can get rid of it? It's just an F icon stuck in my menubar..it has no functionality from what I can tell. Clicking on it does nothing. Also, if I log in as another user it isn't there. So it's somehow specific to my login...any suggestions would be great on what it is or how I can get rid of it. I've included a screenshot of my menubar so you can see what I'm talking about. It's the F on the very left. Thanks!

Here is the weird F in my menubar!

I also looked in login items in sys prefs and the only things are: launchbar, microsoft mouse helper, codetek virtualdesktop and LCCDaemon. All of which I believe have been there for much longer than the F. I don't think any of those are causing it..thanks again!

It took me a while to work this one out. It is actually placed there by Logitec Control Center software (Version 1.1.1). A friend has a cordless Logitec keyboard and mouse. The "F" appeared in the menu bar when I updated the Logitec software to version 1.1.1.

The strange thing is we can't work out how it works with his particular Logitec keyboard.

Ahh, yes I have a wireless logitech keyboard. It does absolutely nothing(the F). It just sits there and takes up menu bar space--so annoying. So any ideas how to remove it besides getting rid of the logitech software? Thanks!

Anything from Logitech in System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras?

You'll need root access to get rid of it if it's there, so be careful.

Oh, also, I assume you've already tried command-dragging it out of the menu bar.

go into the logitech system prefpane, right (or control) click on the keyboard, and the rest should be self explanatory.
