I am forced to use GNOME at work, running on top of RedHat. Every evening when I leave from work I log myself out. I have four workspaces set up which I use on a regular basis. I would like to find out if there is a way to set up my login session so that every time I log in it would create the needed windows for me in each of my workspaces. For example I would have three terminals, an xterm in the first one...a browser in the second one, and some other app in the third one.

Can you guys help me with this one...I am not a Linux expert.
Thank you,

t

Depending on which release you are using, I believe you can choose this menu:

Applications->Desktop Preferences->Advanced->Sessions

Once there, you can set up your config to remember the state of an app at log out via the

Automatically save changes to session

You can also access the Startup tab in Sessions to launch apps when you log in.

Is that the direction you were thinking of going?
