This should load up your CUPS admin page, and you can add printers from there. It's really quite a flexible tool, and might answer your question.
Cups is cool, but I can't seem to make a configuration to work. The print server works because I can print fine from os9 macs and I can print from OSX when in a classic application, I think because my outgoing port number is correct.
But when I print using the print center or cups printer in a native app I just keep getting timed out!
Has anyone been able to print via lpr to an hp 4xxxN printer in OS X natively? I don't have appletalk access as I'm behind a firewall.
I've tried the latest drivers from HP, <no good>, I've tried fixing my file permissions<no good> and I've tried different configs in the print center/cups <no good>
I was however able to telnet to port 9100 on the printer and then print out any words I typed in the telnet session, still..not to useful for when I need to print a file or web page out.
I've spoken with some other users and they've given up printing via IP to HP printers, but there has to be a way to do this....
