One thing that's annoying for me in OS X is constantly having to choose my printer when I select Page Setup. It is the default printer in the Print Center, no other printers are installed, yet whenever I first print in an app when I go to Page Setup it always says Format for: Any printer and I have to choose my Epson again.

Is there anyway I can lock it on my printer? I;m running 10.2.4 on a G4 400.

Me again. Now on 10.3.1 and have a Canon not Epson but I still have to choose my printer every time. Is there a work around? Drives me mad.

As a desperate guess, when you're in Print Center and your printer is highlighted, have you clicked on "Make Default"?

Also, an update to 10.3.2 couldn't (at least shouldn't) hurt. But will it resolve this issue? I dunno.

It's default in the Print Center which seems to mean nothing. Too many issues with 10.3.2 for me to upgrade.

Why do you have to select your printer in Page Setup anyway? Do you always print to non-standard page sizes, that are only available for your type of printer?
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Because I just found a great bug! In Mail I chose Print without doing Page Setup, clicked Preview and in the preview the email headers at the top of the page were fine, but the body text of the email was mirrored! It was back to front and upside down - bizarre!!

In Jaguar: you're screwed.
In Panther: go to System Preferences, click Print and Fax and select your desired printer and page size defaults.

Done that, doesn't work. Page Setup always defaults to 'Any printer' instead of mine.

In Panther, in the Page Setup window under "Settings:" there is a "Save As Default" option that seems to have worked for me.

Gah! How the hell did I miss that?!?!?!? Thanks so much for that - should save me a few seconds every day!

Edit: Mind you it shouldn't have been necessary - clicking my printer as default in the print utility should have done that for me. Oh well sorted now.
