He installed Panther on his machine and since then he's been having problems. After he reset Panther after using it for a while, his computer would kernel panic every three minutes. (even when booted on other HDs) He tried resetting the PRAM, that didn't work. He ran the Apple Hardware Diagnostic CD and everything passed. It still kernel paniced after that. He reset the PMU, still no go... What should he do? This is a log of his last kernel panics.

a) "Your friend" is not having kernal panics; he is having kernel panics.
b) Advise him against installing Norton Utilities in the future, especially on a beta OS.

By the way, I noticed the reference in the crash log to " com.symantec.kext.symfs" which is presumably some symantec kernel extension.

Try removing any and all symantec things. Or just do a clean install to make sure no such symantec things are in the OS' system directory.
