Last week I upgraded my iMac DV 400 to 10.2.6. Since then I have not been able to run iMovie. It will open an existing project, but as soon as I click on a clip or press play it quits. I've also tried importing existing DV footage to a new project but that crashes immediately after the import finishes.

Entries from crash logs are as follows:

console.log:

## Component Manager: attempting to find symbols in a component alias of type (regR/carP/x!bt)
dyld: /Applications/iMovie.app/Contents/MacOSClassic/iMovie bad address of lazy symbol pointer passed to stub_binding_helper

Please help

Many thanks

I forgot to say I've tried trashing the iMove preference file, and also upgraded to QT 6.3 at the same time as 10.2.6...

Thanks

why don't you just download iMovie 3?

I had previously tried iMovie 3 but suffered from all the problems that have been widely reported and went back to 2.1.1

After I sent my post I reinstalled iMovie 3, and then upgraded to 3.0.3 and it seems useable on my iMac DV400, albeit the sound is a bit stuttery (but not when exported), so I'll try using it from now on...

Thanks

Ooops, sorry, I misread the forum description - I just saw the "including Apple's applications such as iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, Final Cut, AppleWorks, etc." and didn't read on...

I think QT 6.3 is the culprit if it worked previously....

I had a similar thing happen.

Also, I had a problem with taking screenshots.

So, I after much investigation, and trying to figure out how the two were related, I figured that 10.2.6 somehow hosed my Quicktime Framework files.

So I deleted /System/Library/Frameworks/QuickTime.framework

and I deleted
/Library/Receipts/QuickTime*.pkg

Then I re-installed QuickTime 6.3 and everything worked fine again, iMovie included.
