Hey there,
I just dropped my Hard Drive (w/OS X 10.2.6) into a G3 with a DVD Drive from a G3 that had no DVD Drive.

I then went to the web and downloaded DVD Player 3.1.1 (which is the only one I could find online)... and it doesn't run. How come Software Update won't update it to 3.2 (will that make it run on 10.2.6?)?

I have Jag install disks, and the iBook I have does run DVD Player under Jag. So, two questions:

- Is it that 3.1.1 isn't compatible with Jaguar (yet 3.2 is)?
- How do I install 3.2 (I don't want to do a whole OS install from the disks)?

Thanks!
BD

IIRC, DVD Player versions after 3.1.1 don't support the hardware DVD playback in the older PowerMac's.

I could be wrong, but I think any higher version just doesn't support your computer.

Well, I'm happy to report that your recollection is off (as I'm watching "This Is Spinal Tap")!

It seems that I did in fact need DVD Player 3.2 when running OS X 10.2.6 - by which I used Pacifist 1.5.2 to upgrade to from my Jag Install Disks.

Woo-hoo,
BD
