I thought I could get rid rid of part of the Help Center I'd never touch. I look in both the /Library/Documentation/Help/ and /Users/user/Library/Documentation/Help/ and didn't find it. I searched for other help folders and for idx and .help files, I couldn't find it. How do I get rid of the Microsoft Healthy Computing Guide files from my Help Center? Thanks in advanced.

Help files can also be in the application's bundle.

No, you don't want to be poking around inside the parent app to find the help files themselves. That won't solve the problem at all.

I believe that the list of available Help topics is created from a list somewhere, but I don't know where. Evidence: After a fresh install of OS X, only the default help topics are avaliable. Third party apps' help topics are only available after getting help from that application for the first time.

Try looking around for aliases. Also try searching at http://www.macosxhints.com.

You can also do a search for all of your .help files. I believe that's the extension for all of the files used by Help Viewer. But definitely check out Mac OSX Hints - they'll probably have a better way of removing the files.

As I said before, I already searched all .help files. Mac OS X Hints didn't have any suggestions though either.

if so, how are they register to help viewer ? I doubt that it searches all application bundles for help files.

It was easier with OS 9 to eliminate help files you didn't want. Does anyone know where the Microsoft Healthy Computing Guide come from?
