Hey all,

I am having a problem with Software Update on OS X v. 10.2.6 with a dual processor 1Ghz G4 PowerMac machine. When I click on the update now button of the Software Update Preference pane, the progress bar goes only so far before causing the entire system preference application to quit. I've tried trashing the system preference .plist file in addition to the software update .plist file in ~/Library/Preferences/ but the problem persists. This is preventing me from getting new updates, and I can't seem to find a fix. Does anyone have any further suggestions?

Is it only SWU panel that is crashing your System Preference panel, or do you have any other apps that unexpectantly quit?

You can try using the Application Restore disc that came with your G4. Or if you have many apps that crash often do what I did, back up and do a reinstall.

It's just the Software Update preference panel that crashes...
