I just spent most of the night rebuilding a virgin 10.2.6 system. Everything was fine and dandy.

I was running Max Payne to check out the install of the game when it just pooped on me when I quit. Now I have a dead screen (22" Cinema on 450 AGP G4). I am running an ATR Rage 8500 and have installed their latest drivers.

I tried zapping the PRAM, booting from CDs and restore disks. Monitor is still dead (looks like its in sleep mode b/c the amber light is on).

Luckily I have a PB to post or I'd be dead in the water. Help!!

I dont have a mac, but on PC, when you turn on the computer and the monitor LED stays amber, that means you aren't recieving a signal from the computer itself. Try plugging the monitor into your PB and see if turns on.

Thanks for the response. I unplugged the monitor and waited about 20 minutes. Plugged it back in and it worked.

Strange because when the display was in a coma (asleep), I plugged it into the powerbook and the PB recognized it (let me mirror and configure the monitor) -- except the display was still down.

Maybe its some kind of power manager reset?

Anybody know for a fact?
