well, damn. why can't OS X recognize the same card I installed on the G3, but the G4 turns around in a huff and puts the card on a straight up ignore?

done gone to Network in System Prefs, I'll be damned if that little automatic dialogue didn't pop up and get all useful! where is it?

recommends? reinstall OS X and tell it to stop being so unconcerned?

I want the ability to sleep in the snow, if I have to. I want the ability to want to.

OS X needs drivers for PCI NICs. search xlr8yourmac.com

chances are, you have a realtek chipset, they have drivers on their site.

this is a d-link card. drivers for OS X came with it, and worked on my G3 tower.

I'm thinking about reinstalling OS X to see if that works.

Try moving the card to a different slot. I don't know why, but in my PowerMac it wouldn't recognize it in some slots but when I moved it to slot 3 it recognized it right off.

I'm a veteran, having already tried all 4 slots.

support for some intel cards is built-in (Intel 8255x and AC97 cards). my B&W is running quite happily with its 8255x w/out any extra drivers.

BGK: see if there's an updated driver on d-link's site:
