Does DVD Player work for playing movies from a hard drive on a mac with no dvd drive? My friend doesn't have a dvd drive on his iBook, so he copied his DVD to his hard drive on his PowerMac and then to he hard drive of his iBook. When he tries to open DVD Player, it says he doesn't have a dvd drive and quits. Is there a way around this? He's running 10.2.6.

Try using mplayer for OS X to play the files. It should play them fine. Also mplayer supports hardware acceleration.
