I got one of these babies and it's sticking on screen every few minutes or so -

I used to be in control of my Apple supplied mouse - which is the way I like it. But now it's in charge It has become a 'sticky mouse' - It's red light disappears and it then sticks to whatever part of the screen it's nearest..

OS 10.2.6

anyone suffered this or got a fix ?

I used to suffer one of these, but it never stuck but every one said it stank - hi-ho.

Does another optical mouse work fine? Can you borrow one from someone to test if you don't have an extra lying around?

Take a look at where the cable enters the mouse and where the usb connector is; is it frayed anywhere or look a little worn?

Does this happen if the mouse is plugged in somewhere besides the keyboard?

First things I can think of to troubleshoot.

first, this'll probably get moved to the peripherals forum.

if there's an Apple Store nearby, take it in. I think for small things (things around iPod level and lower) they'll test it and replace it on the spot if it's defective. If you don't have an Apple Store handy, do what Q said and try to figure out specifically what the problem is, and then call Apple. they'll probably have you send that one in and send out a new one... they might want to repair yours and send it back, but i bet that'd be much more expensive than sending you a whole new one.
