First the particulars:

iBook 700
640 MB RAM (128 factory installed. 512 MB recently installed from Crucial)
OS 10.2.6 kept up-to-date with all software sent via Software Update
MS Intellimouse Explorer using MS drivers
D-Link USB Bluetooth adapter

I've had this machine for nearly one year and I've never experienced a kernel panic. However, I've had several in the last week. Every time I've had the following apps running:

Finder
Safari
Mail
iCal
Address Book
MS Remote Desktop
Word
Excel
System Preferences

Generally the kernel panic occurs when I'm just reading a page in Safari. Sometimes when I attempt to scroll in Safari. All the other apps are just running in the background. Also, in addition to the kernel panics, Safari and Word just tend to crash pretty often without taking down the whole system. Even when they are in the background and not the app I'm using at the moment of the crash.

The content of the panic.log file is as follows:

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to interpret the information in this log so I don't know what to do to get my machine stable again. Any help would be appreciated.

Try removing the ram you installed and see
if that helps. From the log I can't see that
it's being caused by a kernel extension.
If removing the ram doesn't help try a clean
reinstall (your using jaguar, right?)

kernel panics are usually hardware related in OSX...

I'd guess the problem is the RAM or the MS mouse with the drivers you installed. Try removing the drivers or just stop using the mouse.

You can also try removing the RAM, but I doubt the Crucial RAM would just start acting up after all this time, Crucial tends to make good RAM.

The Crucial 512MB I put in my 12" PowerBook was causing my Kernel Panics.
iMac, Intel Core-Duo 2GHz, 2GB, 250GB, OS X 10.4
PowerBook 12", 867MHz, 640MB, 60GB, OS X 10.4
iMac G3, 333MHz, 288MB, 6GB, OS X 10.3
iPods: 3G iPod, 1G mini, 1G shuffle, 2G nano

I'll try taking the RAM out. But I really hope that's not the problem. I've never had any sort of issues with Crucial RAM. But more than that, going to 640MB of RAM from 256MB has made my iBook so much more responsive!

Haven't taken the RAM out yet since I went a few weeks without a KP. Just got another one the other day so I did the Hardware Test on my iBook. I selected the "Extensive Test" option and all checked out fine ... including the Memory.

Is there anyone who can interpret the crash log and pinpoint the problem?

Does it happen after you've been working on it for a while? In other words, does it seem to happen when the system is hot?

Generally it seems to do it after I've been working a while. The iBook can get a little warm under the left palm, but it never gets what I would call "hot". In fact, I rarely even hear the fan kick in.
