My iBook 600 (X 10.2.6) is set to randomly pick a screensaver. When I returned from working on some stuff I noticed boxes of different Apple Software (FCP, Keynote, etc.) as the screensaver.

Turns out it was the .Mac module. Since when Apple started dishing out such advertisements?

It seems it has been there since the first day Jagwire was born. The purpose of that screensaver is for you to add other .Mac user accounts. But if you have not set it up so it will be defaut to the Apple's account. So it will update the images with the latest product. I think it is kinda of a marketing too

Interesting... I always thought that there could be MacNN version with news and info, but that wouldn't be all that great considering you would have to turn the screen saver on...

Hmmm...doesn't work on my own machine. I get:

"Please select one or more subscriptions..."

Anyone know what the username is by default for these slides?

If the "Public Slideshow" isn't in the configuration section of the .Mac screen effect, enter the username ".Mac".
