All new folders default to Read Only status for non-owners even if created in a folder with read-write permissions.
This matters because I have several users on a network who need to create new read/writeable files within the public folder of one machine. Other users moan like crazy when they open up as read only!
I know I can manually change this but is there any way to create new folders the way I want them? I've wondered about a little applescript but I would need to download one from somewhere as I couldn't possibly write one!
I have scanned the forum for pre posted topics that could help me with this. Apologies if I'm re-hashing an old question.
You could create a new user, then change the user's home folder to your public folder in NetInfo, then have them log in as that new user? Maybe worth experimenting with.
