I don't know if anyone has run into this but the volume keys on my keyboard do nothing. I am running a MDD with 10.2.6. When i use the volume controls, the volume control thing comes on the screen and the volume slides up when i press the louder button but that doesn't actually make it any louder. I have to use the apple menu to change the volume. Anyone ever run into this before? And the volume control buttons don't cause the volume slider to move in the sound control panel. Only on the thing that comes up on the screen. My keyboard is connected straight to my mac.

In the Sound preference pane, look under the Output tab. Make sure "Built-in Audio Controller" is selected.
If that doesn't work, try logging out & in, and restarting. If not, then do a clean install.

Delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist then. See if that works.
