Not until after the G5's start shipping?

The prototype G5's all had 10.2.7 installed which makes me wonder: Are some of the speed enhancements that Panther seems to have present in 10.2.7 as well or is 10.2.7 merely an overhaul to 10.2.6 to make it compatible with PPC 970's?

This is pure shot-in-the-dark speculation prompted by the continued unavailability of 10.2.7 via Software Update.

10.2.7 will be nothing but a "hardware compatibility" update I am sure with a few minor bug fixes thrown in...and yes, I doubt we see this before the G5's hit the shelves...

From what I know of 10.2.7, it's only a temporary fix to get the G5s running on Jaguar until Panther ships. I don't imagine there's anything in that update for the rest of us.

There will be no 10.2.7 update. That is, unless you purchase a G5. Recall what happened with 10.1.x--the new towers had a more modern build than was publicly available. This will be a similar phenomenon. It's a moot point, however, as Panther is really looking fabulous at this point. Despite the rumors of a 31 Dec 2003 release, I suspect Panther will be out in Sept.
