Basically what I am saying is much to how apple plans to change the default format from .sit to .zip...

My idea.. have a system pref that you can choose default file types to use, such as .zip or .sit or even .tar.gz for compressed...

Then what kinda of file could be default for screencaps.. I for one would LOVE this as I am sick of having to convert all of my files from pdf to jpeg when I take screencaps.

:sigh: Maybe even go further with other stuff? Hearing me out on this one.. apple?

You're preaching to the choir. Send feedback to Apple instead.

Default format? No Mac OS have been able to make either before Panther.

How about waiting and see how the archiving feature will function in the final?

It was just applied in the latest DP and it doesn't even have a proper icon.
