Okay, iMac 600, 40 gig HD, 10.2.6.
I deleted a 11 gig or so file (a Final Cut Pro DV format movie, straight from the camera), and the machine hung while deleting.
Anyway; the file no longer appears where it once resided, nor can locate or the Finder find it.
I havne't regained the 11 gigs or space it took up... any ideas? I have none, bar the standard...

Do you have anything like TechTool Pro's Trash Cache or any other 'undelete' type utility installed?

Try to check/repair the disk.

Maybe the file has become invisible? You could verify that with TinkerTool...

What happens when you restart the computer?
You positive that it's not hiding somewhere?

Nope, nothing of the sort.

Yeah, I need to invest in a copy of DiskWarrior for OSX. I'll fsck the drive next time I restart the machine.

Quite possibly... I searched several possible locations (.Trashes, ~/Movies, etc) where it might have ended up, and nothing.
The thing is, I can't remember whether I removed this file with the trash, or with rm...

Gonna reboot it now - I wasn't able to before (the machine needed to be on pretty much until now).

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can turn up. The help is appreciated.
