I am at work right now and there are a bunch of files on my computer at home that I need to get. My house is an hour away, so I was trying to use afp to mount my hard drive and download the files like that. Then I remembered that in a totally unprcedented event of self-sabotage, put my computer to sleep before I left (I usually leave it running all day). So naturally I can't connect to it, but I was wondering if there is a way to wake it up remotely short of asking one of my neighbors to go in my room and hit my spacebar. Anyone know if this is possible?

If you turned on the "Wake for network administrator access" checkbox in Energy Saver options, you should be able to use something like wakeonlan.

there are ways to do it but i think you need to know the MAC address of the machine you are trying to wake, as well as the ip address, but I assume you know it.

Googling should turn up a web site that does it for you.
