I am sorta of a OSX newbie...

but am learning much at a frantic speed...

is there a method to launch a program using keyboard shortcuts? or is this not possible....

Command-O or Command-Down Arrow when an application/file is selected.

thanks for the reply...

however is their away I can set/make shortcuts for myself....

i.e. to lauch a program...? regardless as to what is currently selected?....

eg: "command+shift+S" would launch Safari....

or perhaps this ability only lies in the Window world..?

You can with the help of a 3rd party app.

I second the launchbar recommendation. In fact, after using it, you'll wonder if there is actually any other way to launch an application !

I third it. I read the subject line of this thread and came in for the specific purpose of recommending LaunchBar. It's just that good- period.
OS X: Where software installation doesn't require wizards with shields.

Here's a 4th for Launchbar. If you're a decent typist this is the fastest way to launch applications. You're always 2-4 keystrokes away from launching any application on your hard drive. Not only that but you can use it to launch documents and bookmarks. It's also a 'smart' application and learns from previous actions.

Apple should really incorporate this into the OS as a pro-feature.

With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)
