It looks like they want to release Panther as soon as possible.
I can't wait for the final

Wow. They are seriously cranking them out. I guess they have such a nice base to work with now, that it allows them to develop faster. Meanwhile, Windows Longhorn is bogged down with adding total garbage and DRM.
I love OS X, I really do.

Apple has always averaged over a build per day in Mac OS X. Nothing new.
Panther still has quite a bit of work to go. FileVault hasn't even begun to be implemented.

IIRC It said specifically that the feature had not yet been implemented (in the release notes or something)

Any decent software development should aim for daily builds by most modern standards. Usually, the build process happens automatic overnight.

Stink different.

If it hasn't been seeded, how would anyone have the notes?

It might have been seeded to localization testers, according to Think Secret.

It's such a useless story from TS anyway. I couldn't care less if Apple has reached some new build, because as other people said, it's assumed that they go through roughly a build a day. Unless there are some actual release notes detailing what's new, it's so pointless knowing that there's some new build Apple has...I mean, duh.

Well I agree. It's just that a new build, with a new number, means little. But they seem to be making progress (improvements, implementations, bug fixes) at a significant pace compared to other major software projects.

True. I like reading about all the builds because it's interesting to watch the developers make design changes. For example, the changes they've been making to the way selected icons look in the Finder or the layout in system prefs.

i could be wrong but i dont think filevault
will be a separate application perse but just
mixed into the OS like in Finder secure delete
and in sys prefs security pane etc

Yeah, I'll use it. I will click the checkbox and be happy.
