this site is currently the top link on slashdot so its a bit slow.
it shows some screenshots of the new gnome, which is the gui on top of linux and other *nix operating systems (please don't flame me if gui isn't the appropriate term).

Well, that's a little bit like saying that a turd looks like the Mona Lisa because they are both predominately brown
...I expect they'll get a call from Apple Legal soon enough.

Yeah no ****.. no matter how often you paint a turd gold, it still stays a turd. Linux sometimes reminds of this car:
Looks faintly like a Porsche, has lots of buttons and lots of possible customisation, but still remains an incomprehensible mess of assorted garbage (I know, I used Linux for three years).

I think it's supposed to look like the result of cousin Ferrari having kids with cousin Porche.

That is actually a "theme" applied to Gnome, and there are some Aqua-like themes out there, you might want to learn about that.
You also might want to post such stuff in the lounge next time and keep this forum for important things.

Actually, the GNOME people are doing a rather good job with their GNOME Usability Project: if this means taking some good things from the Mac OS (X and Classic), good for them and for us all!

Can only be good for the rest of us, I think. I'm in the middle of installing KDE on Irix, just finished getting QT up n running, now onto KDE; oooooooooo, a night of mucking around.
