I want to get the best possible understanding of OS X's Unix underpinnings. I'm having trouble deciding on which book to get. I have some experience with Linux/Unix (a couple of classes during college), but I'd like to get something that starts basic but does a good job of covering more advanced topics.

Anyway, from looking around, I'm thinking Free BSD Unleashed is the way to go. Any advice? Thanks.

Totally. The Unix CD bookshelf is everything you will probably ever need. Depending on your level of interest, of course, it may be overkill, but it's really top notch. Highly recommended. And Unix Power Tools is a really fun book once you master the basics.

The Unix CD Bookshelf is exactly what I need. It looks like it'll set me back about $90, but that's a whole lot less than it would cost to get each book individually. Thanks a lot for the advice!
