I have a Western Digital 240 GB external firewire hard drive. When I try to copy any file greater than 2 gigabytes, it stops at the 2 GB point and says "Disk Full". Everything under 2 gigs transfers perfectly. What on earth is going on? Is this an OSX issue? (I've got 10.2.6).
Thanks for any help!

It's formatted "Mac OS Extended"...
Is this the wrong format?

Since no one else answers ...
Mac OS Extended is HFS+ with > 2GB support (Mac OS Standard is HFS and would not support 'large' files), so your format seems to be okay.
But I have no clue why it doesn't work for you

Did you send an email to Apple? Generally when you have an issue like that its best to tell them that it exists. Be sure to include as many specific details as is possible in order to get them to understand your problem and tell you why its happening, how to fix it and keep it from happening to others.

I have heard of this problem before. Someone that had a firewire drive (i think a maxtor) asked me if I knew why. What kind of hard drive is it?

Western Digital. These are supposedly good drives, I think...
It seems like it must be an OS issue, because like clockwork it stops at exactly 2GB. Maybe this is unrelated, but I also tried numerous times to export a 6 gig file from FCP to my desktop, and it gave me a "disk full" error as well, when there are 30 gigs of space left.
Could be a separate issue though...

Would you, by any chance, have Norton Utilities (or SystemWorks) installed?
It loads FileSaver which (I believe) has
problems with files over 2 GB.
I'm just thinking out loud.
