I did a search but was unsuccessful with this.

How can I display current download/upload speeds of my active network connection in the menu bar?

Example: DL 13.2 KB/s UL 5.4 KB/s

Do I need an additional sofware for this? I once saw a screenshot on spymac.com with this. Thanks!

Hi,

Menumeters is what I use, a great bit of software, and totally configurable. It can also shsow you your current memory, cpu, and disk usage. You can view the data as graphs, arrows, or text, I usually use the text option.

Net Monitor does it as well. I really like Net Monitor, because it has some nifty other features as well.

Net Monitor is ugly and bloated.

My vote's in MenuMeters too. Very simple and beautifully done

Thanks to you all. I tried MenuMeters and like it so far. Except that I have two identical icons in Preferences now: Menu Meters (twice) and an additional Date/clock.

Your system preferences cache is bad, quit System Preferences and delete the file:

/Users/<your username/Library/Caches/com.apple.systempreferences.cache

(That name is from memory, adjust accordingly if I misremember the exact name :-)

another vote for menumeters here ... simple and very little CPU footprint, quite customizable too.

my only gripe with menu meters is the ammount of space around each menu item.

But I have gotten use to it, great app.

MenuMeters is perfect for my needs. Now, an additional question:

A neighbor joined my AirPort Extreme network and shares the bandwith with me. How can I meter the AirPort Extreme base station? I'd like to see which amount of bandwith is taken by her and by me, like in MenuMeters. Is there a tool for this?
