How do (can) I use a PNG as an active desktop in OSX 10.2.6?

Is this permitted -- I've created a PNG file with a button/rollover hotspot to access

file:///Harddrive:users:vsurfer

It works just fine in a web browser -- but not as a desktop background image.

I realize it could be a bit sketchy security-wise, but I wanted to try is as an active desktop project.

Any ideas?

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

How did you do that (create the hotspot)? I don't think Mac OS X's PNG handler does hotspots so that's probably why it doesn't work on the desktop. Which browser(s) does it work in?

Mac OS X Doesn't support 'Active Desktops' natively. Use WebDesktop.

Thanks, Developer,
this looks like an interesting solution
-- should be fun to play with too.

PS. WJMoore -- i used Fireworks 4 to create the hotspots and tested in

IE 5 for classic <-- worked
IE 5 for OSX <--didn't know how to handle
Safari <-- displays but no links

(But it was one big sliced PNG and my guess is better to create one big HMTL page)
