Hi all.

I've recently been getting kernel panics a few times a day. I can't find a panic.log anywhere, and I get the hardcore black screen with text running down it rather than the kinder, gentler, KP.

I suspect it's a USB issue, since they only started when I added a new USB hub (D-link) and a USB extension cable. I've also tried switching out hubs, and I still get the panics.

What I can't figure out is what causes them. The backtrace into lists all kinds of stuff about IODVD and storage and things like that. Could I be wrong? Could this be a motherboard issue (I've just moved and it's possible the G4 was damaged).

Here are the specs:
G4/533 digital audio.
806 RAM
40 GB and 120 GB drives inside.
60 GB Firewire drive
Pro keyboard
Logitech mouse
Pro speakers
Eye TV
Canon Lide 30 scanner
HP Deskjet 932c printer
Sony Clie SJ-22

The one that just happened occurred while I was watching a QT movie and typing in Word.

Any ideas?

I neglected to mention that I've already removed and reseated all the RAM, and I've done a clean install of Jag 10.2.6

If there's no log, you should write down the exact text filling the screen. Then make a report of your Mac setup using Apple System Profiler. Send the panic text and the system profile report to Apple.

Normally, developers send things like these to Apple's Bugreporter page, but you might use the Feedback page, I guess.

Will do.

For now, here's the panic screen:

click

It seems to be my superdrive that's the problem. Well, that and something with USB.

Any help?
