I have several computers on a network, one still runs OS 9, and the rest are on OS X. The OS 9 computer never has a problem with its connection, and I never use the other OS X one extensively, but whenever I download for an extended period of time (not even necessarily at high speeds), the cable connection on this OS X computer stops working, even though my cable modem is fine and still working with the other computers. Then to remedy the problem, I have to restart the Mac so that the network connection may initialize (playing around with Network settings in the System Preferences does not work).
When I take this mac to the school network it runs on a lot of the time, I don't think I've faced this problem very often (although I might have...it just definitely wasn't so severe because I can't really remember any instances). So I'm wondering why this Mac messes up with the cable connection and needs to RESTART to fix it while the other Macs don't seem to have this problem. Any ideas of what I should be looking into?
