I was printing directions from mapquest and as my canon was printing, i shut down my computer. The printing halted in the middle of printing a page.

I was thinking to myself, why would the computer allow me to shutdown in the middle of printing.

I booted up my computer and without hitting anything, the printer started to print that final page that got cut off. It was printing it from the begining too!
GREAT!
How did it know?

Cool. Still strange that OS X allows you to shut down while printing without even a warning that the printing will halt (then resume when you start the Mac up again).
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Which "Cat" are we talking about here in regarding to this printing feature?

Jaguar or Panther?

Well, I can confirm this works in Jag. Logging out has the same effect as well.

At least OS 9 had the good sense to warn you that you're in the middle of a print job, and give you a couple of sensible options.

It knew because the print file was still in the queue. It simply just started it again. Windows and Classic will do the same thing too.

All OS's can do that. It's certainly a good thing in case something goes bad
