when I go to put the CD in and press C , the whole process takes a long time, and when it finishes, it reboots and only an apple symbol comes up, and it hangs. Can someone please explain why I can not install OSX on my machine? I have a 867 MDD os9/osx boot machine. Everything was working fine, but now the OS doesnt install. Can someone please guide me through this process.


the osx install cd hangs many times not even making it to the install, other times it hangs when its installing OSX. anyone know why this is?

My computer is a MDD 867 1 GB ram

Is it an original Jaguar CD or is the CD that came with your computer? If it's an original (ie boxed copy), then IIRC that was released before the MDD machines and may not be capable of booting them.

That certainly used to be the case for a lot of OS 8/9 boot cd. If the CD was dated significantly before machine xyz was released, it wouldn't be able to boot it. You used to get a helpful message along the lines of "This disc is too old to boot this Macintosh, please update it" or something like that.
