I just got a powerbook a few weeks ago and im really enjoying it. I installed Safari 1.0 along with the other software updates upon the initial set up of my powerbook. It quickly became my favorite browser. Starting yesterday Safari has been acting very strangely upon loading certain pages in particular, some of which include yahoo and ebay. It is as if it gets stuck when loading these sites and shows no information, and if given long enough, unexpectedly quits.

The crash log looks as follows:

Date/Time: 2003-08-26 21:09:16 -0400
OS Version: 10.2.6 (Build 6L60)
Host: ELIxERs-TiBook.local.

Command: Safari
PID: 456

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000010

This is then followed by a list of threads. Ive tried removing some of the pref files and my bookmarks file to repair it, but nothing seems to work along with a reinstall. If anyone has any suggestions or a solution perhaps, please post a reply. Thanks alot.

Which would have been the relevant part of the crash log (at least the crashed thread).
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Try logging in as another user. If the problem doesn't repeat it self while visiting those specific sites you'll know if the problem is in your Library folder. (Or somehow locally in your account)

Drag the following file to the desktop
~/library/preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

-- it seems that has been the problem for a lot of people

a new one will be created automatically

For me, doing a repair permissions on my disk and then rebooting was the only thing that got Safari going again.
