What should I do immediately after I turn on my 17" AlBook? Any security updates?

Are there any essential security updates/security settings that I should do when I first get my 17" AlBook?
Any tips welcome.
(I'm a Linux switcher.)

Turn it on. Go through Setup Assistant.
When Mac OS X starts for the first time it should attempt to run Software Update which will provide you with a list of any updates that haven't been installed on the machine, and what each update does. If it doesn't run automatically, just go to the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, click on Software Update and the Update Now button.

I would stroke it.
Gently though - remember it is still a virgin.
As the sub-atomic person said, after you go through the initial setup, the software updater should automatically start up and check for updates.
Hopefully you have broadband access, sme of the files for updating are a big hefty.
Enjoy

First of all, don't turn plug it into dsl/cable, you'll likely be hacked before you can d/l get the patches.
You're going to have to get a friend to download the service packs and the latest, incomplete, patches and then burn those to cd. Then update your computer, be sure to check for patches daily and read tech news to see when the next big exploit happens (wait a couple weeks after that and you might get a fully functional patch)... oh, wait, it's a mac?
...just plug it in and follow the instructions. Have fun!

First, i'd thank god. Then stroke it gently. Use it, run software update. Then, when you are about to shut down, say a prayer and sing it a good night song.

Fink allows you to download install and run *nix apps within OS X.

Look through system prefs, and check out all the options, you might find something you find real cool, or something you might ask about in the future had you not looked.
And have fun, poke around all over and see what happens!
