I'm in the market for a new Glucometer (for those asking it's a machine to test the blood sugar levels for diabetics). I'm wanting something that I can hook up to my PowerBook G4 and sync or import the readings into FileMaker or a program like HealthEngage. So far all that I have found are meters that have serial connections and would require a converter to hook up to the usb on a Mac. If this works that would be fine, but I'm looking for someone that knows it works and if it works good.

TIA

I was looking for a similar solution for my wife (she uses an Accu-Check meter). There was nothing I could find, and we ended up getting the PC software and serial cable. If you do find a solution, please post back.

The manufactures make it hard to write apps for these things becasue they dont publish thier protocals. (you should write to them and complain!)

Looks like someone has tried to write a open source library for it.

I don't have one of these myself, If you want to email me maybe I can help write a simple app to address this.
