OK this has been a bad week. I was talking in Fire and boom that transparent darker grey scroled down the half way then white horizontal lines and BOOM crash. only the 4th time today.

20 formats this week Disk Utility says key problems before my last reformat to put my partitions back the way I had them before all this happened.

Does DiskWarrior do ZERO drive? I am thinking it's time to buy it.

What is cuasing this problem. Freezes in software update this week etc.

Don't know what you mean by 20 formats.

Try setting your user account so that you need to input your password when logging in. Restart and hold down the shift key- this will restart you in Safe Mode- no 3rd party apps will be loaded. After adding your password at the login, hold the shift key again while the login process completes. See if this stablizes your system.

If not, create a new user with admin privilieges and login to that account- if that cures it, then modes have been made to your own ~/Library and something is amiss. TRhis can be corrected.

How does not having a password tie into system stability? I am curious because if this is true I may want to add passwords to my user accounts.

If you've wiped the drive and still have issues, then you need to borrow a Apple Hardware test CD. It could be the logic board it could be a bad processor. I have 2 OS Xs go crappy on 2 separate drives only to find out a processor had died. So you may want to take it into a shop.
